Walk It Like You Talk It
So Daniel was brought in before the king. The king asked him,”Are you Daniel, one of the exiles brought from Judah by my predecessor, King Nebuchadnezzar?”
When I was in High School there was a phrase that almost everyone said ; “You talk that good talk, but can you walk that good walk?” As funny as it was to say then, it is a powerful question to ask someone.
We all talk a good talk about something. Maybe it’s social injustices, or christianity. What is it that you talk a good talk about? Whatever it is, I hope that when times get hard, and the pressure is on, you can back that talk up with the way that you live (your walk.)
Often times we are attempting to sell something to people and we are wondering why they aren’t buying it. If I told you all how important it is to eat healthy, but was always stuffing my face with burgers and milkshakes, Im sure y’all would suck your teeth at me and carry on about your day. At some point it may become so annoying that you pull me to the side and politely tell me to shut my mouth already!
You see, when you make a declaration to stand with something, you have to stand with it in the good and the bad. People are always watching, and we are called to be the light of this world. We are called to stand for what is right. We are called to love others no matter their race, gender, or sin. Most importantly we are called to allow the things that break Gods heart to break ours too.
I love the story of Daniel. He was put to the test, and time and time again he proved that he did not just talk a good talk about loving God, but he lived it out.
Because Daniel stood strong in what he believed in, when the King needed help, Daniel’s name came up. He was known as a man with integrity. He was known as a man who could be trusted, even by a King who did not believe in what he believed in.
When you walk it like you talk it, people see it. People know you’re the real deal. They respect it. And most of all, what you believe in becomes intriguing. So dear friends, in every way to today, lets walk it how we talk it!
