There are so many responsibilities that come with being a mother. Caring for your baby is an around the clock kind of job. Where do I begin? Late night feedings, mommy and me classes, potty training, the job never ends. Not to mention holding down a household.
With all of these responsibilities it can be easy to lose yourself. As you become indulged in doing what's best for your family, your dreams slowly move toward the back burner.
It's time to ignite that fire that once burned in your heart, and bring those passions to life.
For some of you who have been parenting for a while, this first step may take some time to recall.
For others like myself, this may be pretty easy.
WHAT DREAM HAS GOD GIVEN YOU FOR YOUR LIFE?
Some may think that they don't even have the answer to this question, but it's very simple. What comes naturally to you? Writing? Taking photos? Maybe you're naturally creative, know how to sew, or you may love speaking to others.
That my dear is your passion. God created us with natural abilities, these are things that we enjoy doing, and that come from the heart!
Another way to narrow down or spark your passion is to think about your life experiences. God allows us to have life encounters (negative & positive ) not just for the heck of it. Often God wants to use those experiences to encourage others who are going through the same thing.
What has been the narrative of your life? How can you use those experiences to bless others?
Combine those experiences with your natural God given abilities, and mama dear we have ignited the flame!
Now, that may have made you sweat, and this next step may cause you to panic, but it's so necessary!
Make time, make time, make time.
Now that your mind is flowing with excitement and ideas, you MUST make time to plan. Does that mean that this laundry may sit in the basket an extra two days? Yes! Your family may even need to enjoy a peanut butter and jelly sandwich dinner tonight, and that's alright.
I'm sure you've all heard the quote, "failing to plan, is planning to fail." Even if your plan is to join a ministry at church, and use your passions and abilities there, you still need time to pray and plan.
I believe the reason why so many moms lose themselves and their passions when they enter motherhood is because moms are so selfless. We all know there is always something that needs to be done, but that doesn't mean that we throw our purpose out the window!
I want to challenge you today to make time and really ponder these questions. Maybe you'll have to wait for the kids to be in bed, or ask dad to take over while you find a quiet space to think.
I am praying that the ideas will begin to flow, and that your hearts are open and ready to receive all that God has for you! Feel free to ask questions or even tell me about your passions in the comments below!
